The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's overall accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely preparation of financial records and reports. The position provides leadership and direction to the Accounting Department, monitors financial controls, ensures compliance with applicable Philippine accounting and tax requirements, and provides financial information and recommendations to management to support business decisions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department.
- Supervise and provide direction to accounting personnel, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Accounting, and other accounting functions.
- Ensure that all accounting transactions are properly recorded, supported, and accurately maintained.
- Review and approve accounting entries, reconciliations, vouchers, schedules, and financial reports.
- Monitor the company's accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, and other financial accounts.
- Ensure timely closing of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting books.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare, review, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Analyze financial results, variances, expenses, revenues, and other financial information.
- Provide management with financial insights, recommendations, and explanations of significant variances.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Establish and monitor financial reporting procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Tax and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of tax returns, reports, and other regulatory requirements.
- Monitor compliance with applicable Philippine tax laws, accounting standards, and government regulations.
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax consultants, and government agencies when necessary.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of records required for tax and regulatory purposes.
- Monitor changes in accounting and tax regulations and recommend necessary adjustments to company procedures.
Internal Controls and Audit
- Develop, implement, and monitor accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Identify accounting and financial risks and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Review existing processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely submission of audit requirements.
- Review audit findings and assist management in implementing corrective actions.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, supervise, and evaluate the performance of accounting employees.
- Provide training, coaching, and guidance to accounting staff.
- Establish clear work assignments, deadlines, and performance expectations.
- Promote accuracy, accountability, teamwork, and professional development within the Accounting Department.
- Review staffing requirements and recommend improvements to the department structure when necessary.
Management and Coordination
- Coordinate with Finance, Operations, Sales, HR, Procurement, and other departments regarding financial and accounting matters.
- Provide management with accurate and timely financial information for decision-making.
- Participate in management meetings and provide accounting and financial recommendations.
- Assist in developing and implementing company financial policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of financial and company information.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned by senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is highly preferred.
- Preferably with significant experience in accounting and financial management, including supervisory or managerial experience.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine accounting standards, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of general accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent leadership and people-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and meet strict reporting deadlines.
